At ROAM, we’re all about creating meaningful connections that strengthen and enhance the communities we serve. That’s why we couldn’t be more excited about the new Inlet Beach underpass—an incredible addition that’s transforming the way we all move across Hwy 98, making it safer and easier for pedestrians, cyclists, and families to navigate this bustling area.
But this underpass is so much more than a tunnel! It’s a testament to progress, community collaboration, and the power of working together for a shared goal. The underpass serves as a safe and seamless passageway, but it also stands as a vibrant piece of public art, celebrating the creativity and talent of local artists. And, let’s be honest—it’s just plain cool.
A Canvas for Connection
One of the standout features of the new underpass is its stunning collection of murals, created by ten incredibly talented local artists. Selected by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA), these murals bring the walls of the 136-foot-long underpass to life. You’ll find it at the high-traffic corner of Hwy. 98 and County Hwy. 30A, two of Walton County’s scenic corridors.
From nature-inspired scenes to bold, modern designs, these murals capture the essence of connectivity—between humans, nature, and our shared spaces. As Jennifer Steele, President & CEO of CAA, beautifully put it: “The murals wonderfully express the theme of connectivity and relationship among humans, nature, and our built environment.” SoWal Article We couldn’t agree more!
The featured artists include Francisco Adaro, Katherine Boggs, Heather Clements, Bradley Copeland, Olga Guy, Wes Hinds, Sarah Page, Andy Saczynski, Andrea Scurto, and Lindsay Tobias—each contributing a unique perspective and style. Every mural is 20 feet wide and 8 feet high, creating an immersive visual experience as you pass through.
A True Community Effort
This underpass didn’t just appear overnight—it took years of careful planning, coordination, and a whole lot of heart from local leaders and organizations. We want to give a huge shoutout to everyone involved for making this vision a reality. Your dedication to making Walton County a better place for both residents and visitors is something we truly appreciate!
This project represents more than just a way to safely cross a busy road. It’s a symbol of how much can be accomplished when communities come together, whether it’s building infrastructure or creating spaces that inspire and connect us.
Experience It for Yourself
Whether you’re walking, biking, or just curious to check out some amazing local art, the new Inlet Beach underpass is a must-see. It’s the perfect example of how we can celebrate our community while making it safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
At ROAM, we’re excited about all the ways this new addition is improving our corner of the world, and we hope you are too! Next time you’re near Hwy 98 and 30A, be sure to take a stroll through the underpass and experience this beautiful fusion of art and function for yourself.
This isn’t just a tunnel—it’s a gateway that invigorates and celebrates our community!
